Hand Therapist – The London Bridge Hospital.

About The Facility: 

Begin a career with HCA Healthcare UK – the World’s largest private acute and complex care hospital group and winners of 'The Best Private Healthcare provider 2016' and 'Best International Cancer Services provider 2016’.

London Bridge Hospital is expanding this year into the top four floors of the new Guy’s Cancer Centre. With 38.2 million pound investment and 60,000 square feet this purpose-built facility will allow London Bridge Hospital to house its cancer services in one roof. Consultants from London’s top teaching hospitals will offer full surgical provision in urology, gynaecology, breast, ENT, maxillofacial and head and neck, as well as reconstructive surgery for these specialties. The hospital will partner with Leaders in Oncology (LOC) across chemotherapy, outpatient oncology and haematology.

The new site will encompass inpatient and day-case beds, operating theatres including the first integrated robotics theatre in the UK, housing a Da Vinci Robot. There will also be a chemotherapy unit, outpatient consulting, Level 3 Critical Care and Imaging including X-Ray, MRI and Ultrasound.

The London Bridge Hospital campus in south east London encompasses the recently opened outpatients and diagnostic centre in The Shard, the large world-class hospital based at the Tooley Street site, and a further five outpatient and diagnostic centres across the City, Canary Wharf and Kent. Patients benefit from multidisciplinary streamlined care, investment in leading-edge technology and London teaching hospital consultants.

Job Description:

Our Therapy services across the London Bridge campus are committed to providing a first-class service to all clients and our staff are fully-qualified and trained in a wide range of specialised skills which enable us to provide excellent treatment options, using the most up-to-date technological advances to aid rehabilitation.
As a Hand Therapist, you will provide a highly specialised hand therapy service to patients within outpatients presenting with a range of highly complex problems. You will also provide clinical input to the outpatient musculoskeletal therapy and inpatient orthopaedic services.
The Hand Therapy service is currently undergoing significant growth due to our reputation of providing a high quality service and the Hand Therapist will support this growth and development of the service.

This is a full-time role - 37.5 hours

The attractive and competitive salary for this role is circa £36,937 - £44,271 and will be dependent upon skills and experience.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Managing a mixed caseload of hand and wrist conditions – carrying out highly specialised assessments and treatments
  • Supporting post op patients and those that have work related upper limb disorder
  • Fabrication of thermoplastic, dynamic mobilising and neoprene splints
  • Represent the hand therapy service and/or individual patients at the multi-disciplinary team meetings, ward rounds and case conferences
  • Support the Specialist Hand Therapist with the development of the service

Skills & Experience:

A HCPC registered professional, you will have extensive experience of working in hand therapy ideally with experience of handling patients with a wide variety of hand and wrist conditions, including work related upper limb disorder. The majority of your experience will be from within a hospital environment on a rotational basis, however we will consider some private practice experience. You will have ideally also had experience of ergonomic assessments.
